Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong is the Senior Vice President of Malaysia Petroleum
Management (MPM), PETRONAS, appointed in December 2023. With over 30 years
of experience in the global energy industry, he began his career with PETRONAS
in 1992 as a Process Engineer and has since undertaken key leadership assignments
across Malaysia, Vietnam, Sudan, and South Sudan.
He previously served as Senior Vice President of Project Delivery & Technology,
Vice President of Malaysia Assets, and Vice President of International Assets.
Recognised for driving operational excellence, digital transformation, and
decarbonisation initiatives, he also led the industry-renowned CORAL 2.0 cost
competitiveness programme. Datuk Bacho holds a Chemical Engineering degree
from the University of Texas at Austin and has completed executive leadership
programmes at INSEAD and the Wharton School.
